Since 2010 professor and head of the Research Lab for Applied and Computational Mathematics (ACoM) at RWTH Aachen.

For the 2-year-term 2024-2026 I have been elected Speaker of the Department of Mathematics at RWTH Aachen.

  • Mathematical modeling in continuum physics
  • Numerical methods for nonlinear hyperbolic systems
  • Kinetic gas theory, Boltzmann equation, rarefied gases and micro-flows
  • Magnetohydrodynamics for plasmas
