# Mathematical Models in Science and Engineering (ODEs), WS 2012/13, WS 2013/14, WS 2014/15, WS 2015/16

#### Intention

Ordinary differential equations (ODEs) are the basis of many processes in science and engineering. The goal of the class is to understand the qualitative properties of solutions of ODEs in applied mathematics and to master the process of modeling from the physical concept and the mathematical equations up to the concrete result. We will discuss various application examples and show how the mathematics of ODEs can be found in applied models.

The structure of the class will be 2 hours of lectures every week (starting October 12th) and 2 hour of tutorial every second week. First tutorial class is on October 23rd.

Lecture: Fridays, 11:45 - 13:15, in 1090(Rogowski)|328

Tutorial: bi-weekly Tuesdays, 14:00 - 15:30, in 1090(Rogowski)|328

There are 5 ECTS points to earn partly with collecting homework points and an oral exam of 30min.
